PB's Fantasy Sports

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of fantasy leagues does PB's Fantasy Sports offer?

For the inaugural year, we offer three sports: football and baseball, with basketball planned for the 2010-11 season. These leagues, however, are not your typical "office" leagues in which general managers make simple adds and drops from free agency, rare trades, and generally lose interest half way through the season. PB's Fantasy Sports are competitive every day of the year, not just during the season. Each league can be considered a keeper league and will run indefinitely. Instead of just keeping select players, however, each player remains part of the team based on their contract. Just like real life sports, when players' contracts expire, they become free agents, and any team is eligible to sign said player. This is discussed further in each league.

How many teams are in these leagues?

In order to make it as realistic as possible and create the best experience, the NBA and MLB leagues will have 30 teams, the same as the real life leagues. Football, however, will only have 16 teams due in large part to bye weeks.

Is there a cost to join these leagues? Is there prize money for doing well?

The time, effort and cost to maintain all PB Fantasy Sports dynasties is inexpensive, but it is not free. To make sure we have the funds to run the league each year, I am asking that you provide PB's Fantasy Sports with $20 per year. This will help purchase the league through CBS, supply compensation for running the league, but most importantly, compensation for the winners. In each league, there is potentially $250 up for grabs in prize money for winning, coming in second, or winning a division title.

What platform are the leagues run on?

All three leagues are each run on their own message board on Proboards.com. Visit the "League Sign-Ups and Links" page on this site to find the specific URLs for each sport. All trades, free agency, and league discussion will run on these message boards, while the scoring and records will be kept track on CBS or ESPN.

Are there plans for other sports in the future?

Yes, hockey (NHL) and soccer (English Premier League) are being considered for the future.

Sounds great! How do I sign up for any (or all) of these leagues?

To sign up, send an email to Preston Barclay to prestonb1291@yahoo.com and state your case why you wish to join. After approval, sign up on the specified board and follow the instructions from there!
